Thermography

What is Thermography?

Thermography is an FDA Approved Breast Cancer and Full Body Screening Test. Thermography involves no risk, no radiation, no contact, no pain. Thermography is used to detect abnormalities throughout the entire body. Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging "DITI" is a non invasive test of physiology. It is a valuable procedure for alerting your doctor to changes that can detect early stage breast disease. DITI detects the subtle physiologic changes that accompany breast pathology, whether it is cancer, fibrocystic disease, an infection or a vascular disease. This quick and easy test starts with your medical history being taken. The first session provides the baseline of your "thermal signature". A subsequent session assures that the patterns remain unchanged. All thermograms are read by Board Certified MD's. All thermograms are kept on record and once your stable thermal pattern has been established any changes can be detected during your routine annual studies.

Thermography is a study of vascular anatomy and can detect breast disease 8-10 years earlier than any other method. Mammography is a study of structure, calcifications, or masses that are already present. Utilizing both mammography and thermography can significantly increase the chances of early detection of breast cancer. Thermography is appropriate for all women, especially women with dense breast tissue, women with implants, and women with smaller breasts.

Early Detection Saves Lives

DITI's role in breast cancer and other breast disorders is to help in early detection and monitoring of abnormal physiology and the establishment of risk factors for the development or existence of cancer. When used with other procedures the best possible evaluation of breast health is made. This 15 minute non invasive test is a valuable procedure for alerting your GP or specialist to the possibility of underlying breast disease.
Thermography Instructions:

• No prolonged sun exposure (especially sunburn) to the body areas being imaged 5 days prior to the exam.

• No use of deodorants, lotions, creams, powders, or makeup (no facial makeup for full body or upper body scans) the day of the exam.

• No shaving of the areas to be imaged the day of the exam.

• No treatment (chiropractic, acupuncture, TENS, physical therapy, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, hot or cold pack use) or physical stimulation of the areas to be imaged for 24 hours before the exam.

• No exercise 4 hours prior to the exam.

• If you are scheduled for a breast thermogram, the same protocol above applies along with no physical stimulation of the breasts for 24 hours before the exam, and if you are nursing please try to nurse as far from 1 hour prior to the exam as possible.
